Contemplative and poetic, Arnaud Rinuccini’s photographic artwork focuses on the definition of memories. He wonders about what is altered, transformed or even reinvented when we recall a souvenir. What is forgotten, what is remembered ? Our memory is not something we build over time but on the contrary an ongoing process, a continuing loss, some sort of sieve that only holds some fragments of our lives, when the rest is flowing like sand between our fingers.
Arnaud Rinuccini recomposes landscapes from fragments of reality. The resulting images mix different moments, perspectives and points of view, show mistakes and inversions memories are made of, and stimulate our imagination, taking us just a few steps away from reality.

Arnaud Rinuccini is represented by Art Trope Gallery

Having discovered photography as a teenager during a whole schoolyear spent in the US, Arnaud Rinuccini soon understands that he’ll spend the rest of his life with a camera in hand. Countless hours in the darkroom and hundreds of film rolls later, he enters the prestigious cinema and photography school Ecole Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumiere in Paris.

Arnaud first becomes an architectural photographer, feeling comfortable with the idea of building images that entirely serve the space they represent. At this point, the artist understands that creation consists in knowing how to disappear behind his subject to bring it to light.

While continuing his collaboration with decoration magazines, companies or even architectural agencies that rely on the quality of his author’s eye, Arnaud Rinuccini gradually feels the real need to create a work of his own.

This is how he finds through landscape photography the way to express the relationship between memory and imagination. Marked by the evocative force of Artists such as Debussy, Nicolas de Staël, or even Georges Rousse, he loves photography for its wonderful ability to open up other worlds, to overcome the constraints of a simple reproduction of what surrounds us.
